Pierre-André Chiappori’s research focuses on household behavior, risk, insurance and contract theory, general equilibrium, and mathematical economics. He taught in France (CNRS, Paris 1, EHESS, Ecole Polytechnique, ENSAE) before joining the University of Chicago as Professor of Economics. He has been a faculty member at Columbia University since 2004.

He has been involved in numerous conferences as organizer or keynote speaker and has been editor and co-editor of many international economics publications, including the Journal of Political Economy, published by the University of Chicago. Chiappori is a fellow of the European Economic Association, the Econometric Society, and the Society of Labor Economists.

A graduate from the Ecole Normale Superieure, he received a master’s degree in mathematics from the Université Paris VII, a master’s degree in statistics from the Université Paris VI, and a PhD in economics from the Université Paris I.
